How to Keep Your Blog Readers Coming Back for More

Having great titles for your blog posts, focusing on blog SEO and promoting your blog on social media are wasted efforts if you can’t manage to keep your readers coming back. Blog reader retention is essential for having a truly successful blog. Make sure you aren’t so focused on drawing in new readers that you forget to convince your current readers to stick around.

Write Your Posts With Laser Focus

Just like you go to your favorite restaurant because it has a certain type of cuisine, the same is true of your readers. Make sure your posts are all centered on a specific focus area, such as smartphone technology, sci fi novels, automobiles or aviation technology. No matter what niche your blog exists in, each and every post you publish should be focused on that specific subject.

Be Social

You’re already aware of the sheer number of blogs that currently exist. Rather than concentrate only on yours, follow other blogs related to your focus area. Not only is taking an interest in other blogs a good way to be social online and spark ideas for future posts, you might be able to garner some new readers from the blogs you follow.

Interact With Your Readers

If you allow comments on your blog, be sure you respond to all comments that aren’t spam or unnecessarily aggressive or hostile. When your readers take out time to comment on your posts, the least you can do is thank them and show them you value their comments and attention.

Keep it Constant

Your readers may like your style or format of blogging, so make sure you keep that style and format consistent. This isn’t to say that you can’t change the way your blog looks, simply that you should stick to what works. On a related note, ask your readers if there’s something you can do to make them want to read your posts even more.

As you’re working on blog reader retention, don’t neglect to subscribe to and comment on other blogs. Remember, the more you give, the more you’re bound to get.
